Phi Kappa Phi 045 preps for 85th anniversary
January 17, 2018
An exciting lineup of events awaits members and non-members alike, as the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 045 will be celebrating its 85th Founding Anniversary this year.
The yearlong celebration will begin today, January 17, with a short program titled Padayaw: The Opening Salvo. The event will be held at the China Hall of the GT Toyota Hall of Wisdom.
The re-launching of the chapter website and announcement of anniversary events will be held during the program.
The chapter is planning to hold lectures of excellence, awarding ceremonies for distinguished members, and exhibits throughout the year.
The honor society's first and only chapter in Asia was founded in 1933 by 13 scholars from the University of the Philippines. The chapter's official charter was signed on January 17 of that year. Five of the chapter's founding members eventually became presidents of the university.
